LOSS.lua fails to run
Reported by ecky | September 22nd, 2010 @ 01:09 AM
Running shellchanger, "Set LiteStep as Shell", fails when running as a normal user.
I get the following error:
wxLua error:
lua: Error while running chunk
Access is denied
code: 5
stack traceback:
[C]: in function 'setvalue'
C:\Users\Public\LiteStep\utilities\LOSS.lua:261: in function
'updateRegistry'
C:\Users\Public\LiteStep\utilities\LOSS.lua:279: in main chunk
I wonder why does the shellchanger that is run per user basis need to change HKLM registry keys? It is obvious that it'll fail, since basic user does not have access to change HKLM keys.
If I run it with elevated rights (e.g. admin) I'll be editing admin's shell, not my current users settings. I think this is a serious error in the program. One cannot expect windows users to run their computers with administrators rights just to get one replacement shell to work.
HTH HAND,
ecky
